Sublette County, Wyoming, has over 1,300 lakes and hundreds of miles of streams for the lakeside retreat or prime fishing. Including a number of well-stocked lakes, the angler will find land-locked salmon and Kokanee, grayling, and golden trout. Eyes light up when Pinedale and Sublette County, Wyoming, real estate owners talk about their water resources. Big lakes such as Fremont and Half Moon see plenty of big boats each year and resorts are often tucked in the trees around the shore. The annual Fremont Lake Sailing Regatta is a two day, five-race competition for sail boats of all kinds the second full weekend in August.

Sublette County, Wyoming, and Pinedale real estate buyers with a more land-based and revved up nature can still use their leather gloves to suit the popular pastimes of snowmobiling and 4-wheeling. The Pinedale Snow Explorers Snowmobile Club is active and the Pinedale area can buzz with the sound of fast-paced diversion.

Hiking, mountain biking, and general relaxation is a given with over 400,000 acres of Bridger-Teton Wilderness surrounding the town. This includes the mighty Green River and Green River Lake, grizzlies, wolves, and wilderness adventures. Outfitters make a living when hunters descend in the fall looking for trophy elk and a shot at one of those quicker-than-skittish antelope. Perhaps the most amazing convenience for Pinedale, Wyoming, is The Great Outdoor Transportation Company, which provides taxi services to airports in Jackson Hole and Rock Springs, as well as gear drops to trailheads or a ride to a fishing spot.

Pinedale recreation can take many forms. White Pine Ski Area, two ice-skating rinks, Rendezvous Meadows Golf Course, a movie theater, a 24-hour clinic, a very active Senior Center, and a couple of restaurants dish up more than the standard steak fare. Word on the street is that the new aquatic center rivals those in towns ten times larger. And big game wildlife cruises through town at leisure.

Bars and saloons still rule the day in a tribute to this working community, and active ranching takes a place on the economic stage. Locals and Pinedale real estate owners convene, get a burger and generally relax to the rhythm of rural life. Expect to brush shoulders with neighbors at Faler’s General Store or enjoy genuine camaraderie at events put on by the Pinedale Fine Arts Council. The Pinedale Blues Festival, each August, is among many of the musical highlights. In 1997 Pinedale went on air with its own radio station.

Speakers and exhibits at the Museum of the Mountain Man show off Pinedale and Sublette County, Wyoming's rich history. Green River Rendezvous is the crowing event of the season. Pinedale events are always a whopping community affair. With the opening of a new visitor center in 2007, over 300 people attended. Locals and Pinedale real estate owners still bring a potluck dish to the July 4 gathering. They turn out to support the kids at the county fair. But typically proprietors of Pinedale and Sublette County real estate are found playing in the mountains or gathering at home with friends and family in a way that speaks of the region’s dynamic rural setting.
