Thanksgiving Prep

I spoke with my friend Mike, who runs JH Resort Lodging, and apparently booking for this winter are picking up a little after starting out VERY slowly. I guess the holidays are looking pretty good, but before Christmas is way down as is January. Maybe there will be some fallout from the closing of the Tram after all.

Apparently Deepwater Investments, now known as Donaghmore Investments, headed by big time oilman John Duess, selling their 100 acre compound south of Teton Village again. They had it listed for $25 MM in 1999 and then took it off the market. This time I've been told the price will be $37 MM. Apparently, these are tough times for Mr. Duess, so maybe that’s why he’s selling

At Granite Ridge Lodge unit, 4br/4ba 4000 sq. ft. not ski in/ski out but close, listed for $3,200,000 went under contract in 10 days or so.

Snow King is gearing up for a Thanksgiving opening. You can see they're blowing snow again after a week or so of warm weather.

Snow King Full of Snow
There is about 25″ of settled snow on Teton Pass and people are skiing the crap out it. The amount of tracks makes it look like mid January up there. Maybe, back when I wore a younger man’s cloths I might have joined them, but not now. Too many rocks and fallen trees. Grand Targhee was supposed to open 11/17, and then 11/20, now they've postponed it until they get a little more snow. The forecast calls for some on Thanksgiving, so maybe then.

Over and out.
