Food
After a crappy beginning to the month of February, the mountain is now in great shape. 30″ or so in the last week has made for so great skiing, especially on the upper mountain. This shot by Chris Figenshau shows you what I'm talking about.
I like to eat… a lot, so here are what I think are the five best restaurants in town and the four best values in town.
Five best Restaurants in Jackson Hole, regardless of price
#5. Mizu Sushi: The sushi melts in your mouth and the new “hot” section of the menu adds a whole new dimension. I’ve always had great service although I heard someone say differently this weekend.
#4. Snake River Grill: 5 years ago, when Britney still had hair and Tom Brady was still a good guy, this was clearly the best place in town, no contest. Since then Jackson has changed a lot, Britney has checked out, and I feel this restaurant has slipped a little bit. The service is still the benchmark in town, but the menu just doesn’t get me too excited and it’s been a while since I walked out thinking, “wow, that was great”. Nonetheless, overall it’s still a very good restaurant, especially if you can get one of the booths.
#3.Westbank Grill: Finally, after four years, the Four Seasons has a restaurant that can match up with the excellent Hotel. The menu is inspiring and the service, as always, is fantastic, and when the food comes out, it looks like art. The wine list is excellent albeit expensive, but then again they’re catering to people paying around $700 per night so I don’t think they really care.
#2. Yellowstone Garage: Once this place was way to eclectic and slow for me, now it may be #1 soon. The food has become very, very good and the menu a little easier to navigate, and the room is beautiful, especially in the summer when you can eat on the deck. If the frickin’ wine list wasn’t so completely dominated by little boutique wines from Italy that no one except the owner and Georgio Armani have ever heard of, it might be my favorite.
#1. Rusty Parrot: It’s hard to put this first because I’ve only been there once and maybe I hit it on a really, really good night. Nevertheless, when I walked out, I felt it was far and away the best meal I’d ever had in Jackson (sorry Mom). And, I’ve spoken to a couple other people from New York and Chicago who know a fair amount about food, and they seem to agree. It’s tiny, about 5-6 tables and the wine list is very expensive, but the food and service are amazing. Plan ahead in the summer, as it can be very tough to get a table esp. on the weekends. Be warned though, if you’re drinking wine, no way two people get out for under $200.
Five Best Restaurant Values in Town:
#5. D.O.G. : $5.00 gets you a breakfast burrito that will last you all day and if you stayed out a little too late the night before, it simply can’t be beat.
#4. Koshu: One of my favorite places to go. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and you can pick out your wine at the great wine shop next door (over 900 different bottles) and bring it into the restaurant for a small fee or you can have Holly make you a fantastic cocktail. Thai pork ribs are the best in Jackson
#3. Pica’s: $7.00 for Chicken Quesidilla with rice and beans. It’s cheaper and easier than cooking at home. You don't have to give me the hard sell on this one.
#2. Trio: Like Diane Lane and a good cabernet, Trio seems to get better every year. A beautiful restaurant, a fun scene, and a menu that gives you a really wide variety to choose from. You can
have fine dining with great wine or a buffalo burger and a glass of beer. Their small plates are perfect when you’re not that hungry and it allows to sneak out without getting dinged too badly. Probably the best lunch in the Town as well.
#1.Rendezvous Bistro: Seems like a lot of places are trying to copy this Jackson institution but nobody can. It’s strange to use the word institution because it’s only been around 6 years, but it is. The food is very good, remarkably consistent and very fairly priced. The wine list runs the spectrum from affordable to expensive and is constantly being updated. The staff and service are great, the drinks at the bar are pretty cheap and it usually draws a fun crowd.
Real Estate:
There is one lot in Teton County listed in the MLS for under $400,000 ($399,000, near Horse Creek Station).
There are 390 lots in the Victor/Driggs area listed in the MLS for under $400,000
A 2br/1.5 condo in the Aspens in great shape listed for $675,000, under contract in 3 days
478 sq. ft. Studio Condo at the Teton Mountain Lodge listed at $595,000

1286 2br/2ba at the Teton Mountain Lodge closed at $1,375,000. A one time $17,000 spa fee as well.
Get out skiing, the way this winter has been, you don't know how long it will last.
