Full Moon Fever
I took this shot when I got home from work Friday. The beauty of Jackson never gets old, and often times just takes your breath away.
It was kind of a crazy, wonderful weekend at the Village. Saturday was full on winter, and about as cold as it gets here. Minus 5 at the top with a steady 30 MPH wind out of the north. Great skiing but colder than Hillary’s stare. Sunday was a classic Spring skiing day in Jackson. 35, cloudless, and fantastic. If you were skiing on Sunday and didn't have fun then maybe skiing is not the sport for you.
I've been thinking about the new Tram building and I wonder how is it possible to spend spend $25-$30 million and then decide to not cover and heat the waiting area/maze (see: Snowbird). I mean seriously, after dropping that kind of money, is another $250,000 to put up a roof and some heaters really going to break the bank? You only have once chance to do it right.
Here’s an interesting piece from JHunderground on 75 acres on Cache Creek that has been purchased for possible developement. http://www.jhunderground.com/?p=270
Had another great meal at the Four Seasons. Gotta try it
Another avalanche in essentially the same spot where a guy was killed a couple months ago. Somehow, this skier survived, but not after getting carried over an 80′ cliff. Like the person in Granite Canyon, this was a very experienced skier who was very, very fortunate. At some point the luck is going to run out and the Gods are going to roll a twelve.
After stopping for a couple months, construction has resumed on the Shooting Star golf course developement at the base of the Village. The first phase of building lots are scheduled to close in May and the Golf Cabins will come on soon after that.
Values in the Village for “new construction” continue to creep up. Right now the cheapest is at Crystal Springs for just over $1000 per sq. ft. and the most expensive is the Four Seasons, coming home at about $1500.
Real Estate:
1br/1ba 450 sq. ft in town condo, closed at $303,000. Amazing
Least expensive condo in the Aspens is a 1br/1ba 674 sq. ft. for $399,000.
2br/2ba Sleeping Indian Condo listed at $725,000. That’s about right, as crazy as it sounds.
2br/2ba Teewinot Condo, 1200 sq. ft. listed at $850,0000.
3br/2ba 1300 sq. ft. top floor Teewinot listed at $1,065,000, under contract in FIVE days!
2br/1ba Meadowbrook condo in town, closed at $295,000. Looks like a deal now.
Heading off to Nelson BC tomorrow for a little skiing with my Dad. Excellent.

Jack, met you in the lift line with Bonnie Hopkins this weekend. I gave your name to our friends from Atlanta the Patillo’s who are out there this week. Love you site, for those of us flatlanders out here on the East coast. thanks!!!
Jack, you have the maze thing right on. The idea of standing in the open on a powder day and then boarding the tram and having all that snow melt on you is absurd in the extreme.
Does anyone at Carney or JHMR look to actual skiers for design input. Apparently not.
Just got back from SLC, saw the Granite skier, banged up as all get out but working hard to get back up here soon.
Great site, really enjoy it.
Have fun with dad and stop by the shop some time.
