Phil’s flat head.

I've been thinking about this a lot for the past few days (this is what my life has been reduced to) and I think Tony definately finishes his onion rings, has a nice meal and goes home.  Life for Tony goes on.  He’s a survivior, that’s the cornerstone of his character.

Along those lines, I watched the final episode again last night and the final scene in the diner is more brilliant the second time around because NOTHING happens, the characters coming and going are pretty benign yet the first time we watched each one looked more sinister than Mr. Joshua.  Watch it again, you'll see they're just normal people coming and going yet the first viewing we were convinced they were all packing Glocks.  Alfred Hitchcock once said that it’s not the “bang” that scares people, it’s the fear of the “bang” that scares people.   David Chase and Co. pulled that off beautifully.

Ray Ratto wrote for the San Fransico Sentinal that “the Giants are flatter than Phil Liatardo’s head”.  Beautiful.

Real Estate:

Yesterday, I was getting feeling that things seemed alittle slow for this time of year, just a gut feeling I had.  Checking the MLS showed I was right.  For the first 13 days of June last year there were 31 closings in the Jackson area (not counting Idaho) and this year for the same period there have be 21.    I don't think it tells us much about the rest of the summer but something to chew on.

What was interesting though was that there are two properties that showed up on both searches.  Teewinot D1 and Teton Mountain Lodge 107.

In June of 2006, Teewintot D1 closed for $685,000.

In June of 2007, Teewinot D1 Closed  for $925,000.  Not a bad return

In June of 2006, Teton Mountain Lodge unit 107 Closed for $400,000

In June of 2007, Teton Mountain Lodge unit 107 Closed for $582,000.

In my opinion, this is all a result of the Shooting Star golf course beginning construction and the announcement of the New Tram, both of which will open in 2008-2009.

A .44 acre lot in Indian Trails was listed for $845,000 today.  That’s one to watch!

8 in row for the team from the Bronx.  Images of 1978 are making all those guys with little Sox caps on  pretty nervous back in places like  Chatham, Roxbury,  and Newburyport.

  1. Alexis Sarthou Says:

The ending was pure manipulation with zero payoff. If the creators of the show wanted an ending that pissed off the viewers, then shame on them. If they wanted a bit (or a lot) of uncertainty, then it could have been done much better.

Cut out the showing of the random people entering the diner, and the silliness of Meadow unable to park, and you've got a perfect, “things-are-going-to-be-just-normal” ending to a great series.

Or have the same build up ending, but show from Tony’s perspective the horror on his daughter’s face because she’s witnessing a guy about to shoot her father in the head, and then black.

And now, back to real estate in Jackson Hole.
