Scooter and Libby

So this is what it’s come to?  Thanksgiving gets completely kicked to the curb by this countries retailers.  I don’t get it.  What’s the rush??!!   I’m walking around all the Valley stores this past week and they’re all in full Christmas mode, complete with white lights, fake snowmen and creepy little dancing elves.  And of course the obligatory Christmas elevator music. (Is there anything that gets OUT of a store faster)  What happened the decorations like little paper Tom Turkey with the little black and white Pilgrim hat on? Like some other time honered unwritten rules such as not wearing white after Labor Day, not dating your best friends wife, and actually telling the truth if you’re President of The United States, the custom of waiting on the Christmas decorations until after Thanksgiving seems to have all but disappeared.  When I asked one of my friends who owns a cute little shop in town what the heck was going on, she smiled her wonderful pearly whites and said “ it’s all about dollars, and Christmas gives me lots them.  The only thing Thanksgiving gives me is a fat stomach.”  Happy Birthday Jesus.
Speaking of traditions here’s a snippet from the report of our fearless leader giving a Presidential pardon White House Turkeys, as reported by CNN.

The president announced the names of America’s most famous turkeys — a primary and an alternate — as voted on by America.

May and Flower were the winning monikers, which, the president remarked, was “certainly better than the names the vice president suggested, which was Lunch and Dinner.”

(Or, Scooter and Libby, as one member of the press corps was overheard suggesting).

Lunch and Dinner??  Really.  I’m beginning to think that our VP actually embraces his reputation as Lucifer himself.
Here are a couple shots I took walking around on Teton Pass this weekend.  The weather stations are reporting about 35” of settles snow at 9500”  Teton PassTeton Pass

And this one of the Ski area on Monday AM.   It’s pretty easy to see where the rain/snow line was.Teton Village

The Osprey Creek development was shot down by the County Commissioners 4-1 last Tuesday.  The Commissioners who voted against it cited the project for having too much density for the Village Road corridor and more than one seemed to be feeling the heat from the series of neighbors who spoke out that they didn’t want affordable or deed restricted housing near them.  It gets a little tiresome listening to people consistently say how in favor of affordable and deed restricted housing they are until it’s proposed to be built near their house. Then they act as if the apocalypse is upon us.  It’s a more than a little sad.

And the neighbors there might want to be careful of what they wish for…
