I found this article from the San Jose Mercury Times about the summertime in Jackson
Went out to the Village yesterday to visit the Couloir restaurant at the top of the Gondola. When you get up close to the new Tram building, it’s huge, as this picture illustrates. The other picture shows the progress on the Shooting Star golf course. Apparently, tee times will be available every Tuesday for locals and non members.
Anyone who has visited any of the resort properties around the Valley has certainly noticed the unusual amount of Eastern European employees. Every year there seems to be more and more, especially in the summer when they can they can get 5-6 month work visa’s and are on a break from school. The employers love them because, by and large, they are very polite, show up on time, and compared to many college kids, WANT to work…a lot. I'm beginning to think too that many are staying here, both legally and illegally, and we are going to start to see a Eastern European community begin to grow here, much the same way the Hispanic community began here 25 years ago.
Real Estate:
From 7/4 - 7/14 there were 46 new listings in the MLS for the greater Jackson area. 5 listings went under contract during that same period.
From 7/4 - 7/14 there were 30 listings in the MLS that lowered their price. 1 listing raised their price during that same period.
4br/3.5 bath house, 3100 sq. ft. 5 acres North of Town, Listed and CLOSED for $2,985,000. On the market 1 day.
3br/2.5 bath, 1300 sq.ft. Creekside condo in town, 2 car garage, Listed for $685,000, reduced to $655,000, CLOSED for $640,000
2br+loft/2bath Aspens condo in the Berry Patch, good shape, Listed for $798,000, reduced to $710,00, CLOSED for $695,000
4br/3ba 3200 sq. ft house in Melody Ranch, built in 2004, 2 car garage, Listed for $1,289,000 CLOSED for $1,250,000. Not on the market very long.
There are 14 active listings in Melody Ranch
There are 20 active listings in Rafter J.
For most of the areas in the Valley, it’s definitely a Buyer’s market folks.
