Forget about Summer, where did Fall go?

Took this photo Saturday morning. Apparently there is over 3′ at Grand Targhee and more on the way! Glory Bowl Jackson Hole

If you haven't been watching the first round of the playoffs, you've missed some unbelievable games. The Phillies, Dodgers, Angels and Yankees all had huge comeback wins and last Tuesdays one game playoff between the Twins and Tigers you saw why, when played at the highest level, there is no game that matches baseball in terms of excitement and drama. It doesn't happen that often, but when it does, it’s the very best. Football may have more action, but it doens't have the anticipation of action, which is what makes baseball so great. It’s like what Alfred Hitchcock said about being scared “it’s not the bang that scares people, it’s the anticipation of the bang that does”

It was as as recently as the Fall 2007 that Boston ruled the sports world and all the Boston fans were walking around with a smugness that made them reviled by the rest of the sports world. (an especially me). The Red Sox had won the World Series, the Pats were on their way to an undefeated regular season, the Celtics were on their way to the World Championship and even Boston College started 7-0. Today, that Dynasty is clearly coming to an end. The Red Sox, who were swept in the first round of the playoffs, have holes so big even Rex Ryan could walk through them. Varitek is done, Victor Martinez is a great hitter but can't throw anybody out either, Ortiz is so fat he can't see his toes in the morning, they have no shortstop, and “Crazy” Jon Papplebon makes even the most die hard Sox fan nervous when he comes out of the pen. As for the Patriots, Tom Brady clearly is not the player he was before he hurt his knee, they desperately miss Richard Seymour, and the luster has come off of the Bill Belichek genius title. And the Celtics, well, I have no idea because I don't really follow pro basketball, but I do know Garnett is physically breaking down. Well, it’s over now.

This is very good. Phlat!

I saw this article the other day. Pretty cool for all of us iPhone users in Jackson or those who are coming here this Winter

This is pretty good too if you remember the 1980 Olympic Hockey team.

Here is Kurt Russell’s version as Herb Brooks in “Miracle”, which  by the way, is a great movie.
